Company
The groups are staffed by teams of volunteers who seek to provide company and support to parents, and a safe play environment for children. Activities include story-time, singing and crafts for children. For parents, there is the opportunity to relax, enjoy some adult conversation and share experiences and ideas. In addition to the weekly groups, special events are held, offering further care and support, particularly to those parenting alone. Company also runs a Mentoring and Befriending service that aims to get along side and support parents in need of some advice, help and encouragment. Jericho Road
58i works in partnership with the Jericho Road Project, an initiative working with women involved in prostitution in Nottingham and assisting them as they exit prostitution. There are estimated to be around 100 women involved in street prostitution in Nottingham, more than 90% of them addicted to class A drugs. The service engages with the women through evening street outreach, day time drop-in sessions and prison visits where the team, largely made up of volunteers, helps them make positive lifestyle choices. The King's Village Project serves a district of 160,000 people, where the average person earns just 50p a day, the project adopts an integrated development approach - providing clean water and sanitation, healthcare, education and training and enterprise development in the Tolon-Kumbungu district of Northern Ghana. More than 65 local people are employed by the King's Village Project. Between them they've helped develop a hospital which now has three doctors, have provided water and sanitation to in excess of 15,000 people, have provided nutritional support to hundreds of malnourished babies and toddlers, established a school which serves over 250 children and begun to develop a micro-enterprise initiative. Local people are involved fully in the planning, development and implementation of the King's Village Project. This includes taking part in needs assessments, volunteering their time to help build facilities and forming local groups to deliver elements of the project themselves.
